The Daily Mirror reports that Napoli have put a £57.3 million price tag on Liverpool target Piotr Zielinski.
Liverpool missed out on the signature of a player who has been labelled as “better than Kevin de Bruyne” two summers ago when they tried to sign him from Serie A side Udinese for just £11.75 million, with the Pole opting to move to Napoli instead.
Now, with the Merseyside club ready to renew their interest in Zielinski when the transfer window opens again, Napoli, current Serie A leaders, have sought to protect their asset with by slapping the exorbitant price tag on him, in the hope it will deter suitors.
Zielinski has made 24 appearances in the Italian top flight this season, although he has mainly had to content himself with coming off the bench. He also played a prominent part in their Europa League campaign, and scored seven times for them until their run in the competition came to an end at RB Leipzig last week.
