According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is ready to sign a £20 million new deal to continue managing at The Etihad until the end of the 2020 – 2021 season.
His current contract expires at the end of next season but now it looks like he is prepared to stay for a further two years at least, which means he intends to manage City for longer than he managed at either Barcelona or Bayern Munich, his previous clubs.
It is though that the deal has already been agreed in principle, but Guardiola prefers to wait until he has won his first piece of silverware in England.
However, now that the Carabao Cup has been secured after Sunday’s final comprehensive defeat of Arsenal, and with the Premier League title all but sown-up, the new deal is likely to be announced soon, with key members of the backroom staff also likely to benefit from improved contracts.
