According to talkSPORT, Real Madrid are planning a move for Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois in the summer because they believe it will be easier to sign him than long-term target David de Gea.
The Spanish club are in the market for a new number one in the summer, and have long been linked with the Manchester United goalkeeper, with de Gea almost joining them in the summer of 2015, only for the deal to breakdown at the last minute. However, de Gea ended up staying at Old Trafford and signed a long-term contract, which currently has another 18 months to run.
Recognising, therefore, that de Gea may be difficult to prise away, they are ready to turn their attentions to Thibaut, who may be easier to tempt to Madrid. Courtois spent 3 years on loan there between 2011 – 2014 at the city rivals Atletico, and still has many ties to Madrid, including his children and their mother who still live there.
