Arsenal and Tottenham target Malcolm wanted Premiership move

According to The Daily Mail, Bordeaux winger Malcom, who was heavily linked with moves to both Arsenal and Spurs in the January window wanted to move to the Premier League, but was thwarted by his club.

Both North London clubs were interested in signing the £45 million rated player, but the move was blocked by Bordeaux who preferred to wait until the summer at least before selling him.

Instead Tottenham acquired Lucas Moura from PSG instead, whilst Arsenal acquired Henrikh Mkhitaryan in exchange for Alexis Sanchez and then went and paid a club record fee for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, Malcom is still hoping for a summer move, after doing his best to secure Bordeaux, now managed by former Chelsea and Spurs star Gus Poyet, a top six place in Ligue 1.

Malcom told Telefoot “it’s my dream to progress in my career. I spoke to the president, he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me. I told him he could count on me until the end of the season.”

The young Brazilian has eight Ligue 1 goals to his name so far this season, one more than he managed in the whole of the last campaign.
