The Daily Star Sunday reports that Arsenal are ready to join the hunt for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez.
The 26-year old Algerian was widely linked with a move to Manchester City in the January transfer window, but despite City making a number of offers for the former Players’ Player of the Year, including one of £65 million plus a player, Leicester turned them all down, much to the anger of the player.
As a result, Mahrez has gone on effective strike, refusing to train with the team and missing the club’s last two matches against Everton away and home to Swansea City on the weekend.
Mahrez hopes that City will want to come back with a new offer for him in the summer, but now it is reported that they will face competition from Arsenal, who have been linked with the player for a number of months, and may be ready to make a bid of their own for him in July.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also monitoring developments.
