18-year old Arsenal midfielder Marcus McGuane has signed for Barcelona, as reported by The Mirror.
McGuane, who is an England under-19 international, joined Arsenal at the under-6 level, and had progressed with the club through to senior level, having made his first-team debut in the Europa League away to BATE Borisov earlier this season.
A regular in the Gunners Premier League 2 squad this season, he was highly thought of at Arsenal who were keen to persuade him to commit his long-term future to the club.
However, with only 6 months left on his current contract, and amidst interest from the likes of Manchester United and Juventus, McGuane has opted to sign for Barcelona instead, on a three and a half year contract.
McGuane has been drafted in to the Barcelona B team, and the Spanish club have included a €25 million release clause in his contract.
Arsenal confirmed the news on the club website.
