The Daily Mail are reporting that Roma have turned down an initial bid from Liverpool for goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is in the market for a new keeper, having apparently lost faith with his two first choice keepers at Anfield, Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, and has identified the 25-year old Brazilian as his number one target.
Alisson has emerged as one of the top keepers in Serie A, and Roma are reluctant to lose the player, with their squad set to be weakened by the loss of Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri. They have slapped a figure of £44 million on Allison’s head, so the fact that Liverpool’s offer has been rejected suggests that their opening offer was below that level.
The Brazilian has made full 22 international appearances for his country, and is likely to be part of their World Cup squad this summer in Russia. Alisson joined Roma in July 2016 from Brazilian side Internacional.
