According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are closing in on an 18-month loan deal for young Chelsea playmaker Charly Musonda, with the midfielder expected in Glasgow early next week to finalise the move.
The 21-year old Belgian has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge, with last weekend’s substitute appearance against Brighton a rare appearance for a player who is highly regarded by Chelsea.
Musonda had hoped for a loan deal in the summer, but when that did not materialise, it was taken as a sign that Antonio Conte planned to use the former Anderlecht player in his squad this season. However, he has made only 3 Premier League appearances for Chelsea this season, all from the bench, and did not even make the bench for their Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal earlier this week.
Now it looks like he is set for an extended loan spell with the Scottish champions, becoming Brendan Rogers third signing of the transfer window, after German defender Marvin Compper and St. Mirren winger Lewis Morgan.
