As reported by The Daily Mail, Liverpool are set to sign Falkirk left back Tony Gallacher for £250,000.
The 18-year old defender was invited for a trial by Liverpool last week and impressed so much that they decided to sign him, warding off interest from Swansea City who had also been linked with a move for the young Scot, with reports that Barcelona were also monitoring his progress at one stage.
Gallacher has made 26 appearances for Falkirk since making his debut aged just 16 years old, and has 6 Scotland under-17 caps to his name. In January last year, Scottish papers The Daily Record and the Herald named him as one of Scottish football’s biggest prospects for 2017.
He is likely for the time being to be third in the left-back pecking order at Anfield behind Spaniard Alberto Moreno and compatriot Andy Robertson, and it remains to be seen if manager Jurgen Klopp will want to send him out on loan to get more first-team experience.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
