The Evening Standard reports that Vicenta Guaita, currently goalkeeper with La Liga side Getafe, has flown to London and is to have a medical ahead of a proposed £7 million to Crystal Palace.
Guaita has conceded just 18 goals for Getafe in La Liga this season, and will provide competition at Palace to Wayne Hennessy and Julian Speroni who have shared goalkeeping duties for the South London club this season.
If Guaita does sign, he will become Palace’s third acquisition of the transfer window, having already completed the signing of Polish defender Jaroslaw Jach from Zaglebie Lubin, and midfielder Erdal Rakip, who has joined on loan from Portuguese club Benfica for the rest of the season.
31-year old Guaita began his career with Valencia, where he progressed through the youth ranks, before making 114 appearances for the first team in all competitions. He joined Getafe in 2014, and, although he missed most of last season due to injury, he returned in time to help the club win promotion back to Spain’s top league, via the play-offs.
