As reported by The Independent, Chelsea defender Kenedy will be joining Newcastle United on loan for the rest of the season.
The 21-year old Brazilian joined Chelsea from Fluminese in June 2015, but has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, and has mainly been used in the early rounds of cup competitions. He was sent on loan to Watford at the start of the 2016-2017 season, but ended up playing only one game for the Hertfordshire club due to a series of injuries, which prompted Chelsea to recall him after four months.
Kenedy can play either as a winger or as a left-back and is Newcastle’s first signing of the transfer window.
The player made headlines for the wrong reasons during Chelsea’s pre-season tour of China when he posted videos on social media judged to be disrespectful towards home fans. As a result he was strongly reprimanded by the club and disciplined.
