The Evening Standard reports that the agent of Roma striker Edin Dzeko has flown to London in order to hold talks about a possible transfer of his client to Chelsea.
Chelsea are keen to add to their attacking options, and have, in recent weeks, been linked with moves for Andy Carroll of West Ham, and Stoke City’s Peter Crouch. Now it appears that they may be closing in on a move for Dzeko, who is no stranger to the Premier League, having made 189 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions between 2010 and 2015, winning 2 Premier League titles during his time at The Etihad.
31-year old Dzeko has two years left still on his current contract with Roma, but they may be forced to sell him to comply because they need to raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play.
Dzeko is said to be ambivalent about moving to Chelsea as he is worried about the amount of game time he will get behind first-choice striker Alvaro Morata, and his agent will be meeting representatives of the London club to see what assurances they can provide before the Bosnian agrees to the move.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
