The Sun reports that former Chelsea star and World Cup winner Andre Schurrle could be set for a surprise return to the Premier League, with both Stoke City and Newcastle United interested in taking him on loan for the rest of the season.
The 27-year old winger is currently at Borussia Dortmund who he joined from fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in August 2016, but he has struggled for first team opportunities with his new club, and may be open to a loan deal with both Newcastle and Stoke interested in a player who was at Chelsea between 2013 and 2015.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez knows the player well as he was managing Chelsea when initials talks about bring Schurrle to London were held with his Bayer Leverkusen in 2013, whilst Stoke’s new manager Lambert has extensive contacts in German football and use to play for Dortmund.
Schurrle is a German international with 57 caps, and scored twice in the 2014 semi-final against Brazil, before coming on as a substitute in the final against Argentina and setting-up the winner for Mario Gotze.
