Tottenham send midfielder to loan to Norwich City

Tottenham have allowed their young attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards to join Norwich City on loan club for the rest of the season, as reported by talkSPORT.

Edwards made his debut for Spurs in September 2016 in an EFL Cup match against Gillingham, but has failed to challenge for a first-team place this season, and now manager Mauricio Pochettino has approved the loan move so he can continue his development and experience first team football, with Norwich manager Daniel Farke telling his club’s official website that he is “a young player with huge potential and is unbelievably talented”.

The 19-year old, who joined the Tottenham academy system when he was just 8, is highly regarded at Spurs, where he has been dubbed “Mini Messi”, and signed a new contract with the club last July, committing him to North London until 2020.

Edwards was part of the England squad that won the European under-19 championship last summer, appearing as a substitute in the final against Portugal. He is also qualified to play for Cyprus through his mother.
