Liverpool linked with summer move for Stoke goalkeeper

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are planning a summer move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland.

The goalkeeping position is widely regarded as an area of weakness for Liverpool, with Simon Mignolet error-prone, whilst Loris Karius has failed to impress when given the chance.

24-year old Butland is view as a major upgrade on both, with significant scope for development in his career.

The keeper began his career with Birmingham City before moving to Stoke in January 2013, although his early career in the Potteries was interspersed with loan spells at Barnsley, Leeds United and Derby County.  Butland became first choice for Stoke in the summer of 2015 when Asmir Begovic, although several ankle injuries have restricted his appearances to date.

Butland has 6 full caps for England, and, with Joe Hart now warming the substitute’s bench for West Ham, has a very good chance of claim a starting berth for his country when they kick-off their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on June 18th.
