Arsenal defender set for loan move to Celtic

Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik has been linked with a loan move to Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

The 20-year old Pole has been at Arsenal for 3 years, and now plays as a central defender, having joined the club as a defensive midfielder. He impressed whilst spending six months on loan at Birmingham City last year, and had been linked with another loan move this season, before suffering an injury during an under-23 game against Manchester City.

Bielik has recently returned to fitness, but finds his chances of getting in to the first team at the Emirates suffer a new blow in the shape of their new signing, Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who has impressed manager Arsene Wenger so much in training that the Frenchman has forsaken plans to send him out on loan and opted to keep him in the first team squad for the rest of the season.

That means that the Polish under-19 international is looking for a new loan move, and Celtic, who are looking for defensive cover, are one possible destination, although Bielik’s old club, Legia Warsaw, are also in the frame.
