According to The Mirror, Manchester United want to hijack Alexis Sanchez’s move to neighbours City and are ready to bid £25 million for his services.
That is £5 million more than Manchester City have reportedly offered Arsenal in a “take it or leave it” deal, with Henrik Mkhitaryan also being offered as a makeweight in the deal.
Sanchez has, allegedly, already agreed personal terms with City, with a contract worth £250,000 a week, but United are prepared to better that, as manager Jose Mourinho looks to reinvigorate the club’s season with another big name signing.
One potential problem with the deal could be Mkhitaryan’s wages which are rumoured to be £200,000 a week, whilst another could be the long-term enmity between Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Mourinho, with the Frenchman reluctant to sell one of his biggest assets to a bitter rival.
Sanchez made what many believe to be his last appearance for Arsenal on Wednesday night when he appeared as a substitute in their Carabao Cup semi-final with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
