The Independent reports that Liverpool are the favourites to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Cellabos.
The 21-year old has only been at the Bernabeu for seven months after joining them from La Liga rivals Real Betis in a £16 million deal. However, he has failed to impress manager Zinedine Zidane, and has played just six league matches this campaign for the Madrid side.
Cellabos has become increasingly frustrated with his situation with Real, and is looking for more game time, with former club Betis recently confirming that they would like to sign the player again given the opportunity.
However, Spanish football regulations mean they will have to wait until the end of the season before making their move, and now it looks like they are set to miss their chance after reports emerged about the player meeting representatives from Liverpool at a Spanish hotel over the weekend, with the Merseyside side looking for a replacement for the departed Philippe Coutinho.
Cellabos has 22 caps at under-21 level for Spain, but has yet to represent the full national side.
