Bayern Munich are the latest club to confirm their interest in Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka, who is wanted by a host of clubs across Europe, and has been linked with a possible move to Liverpool.
The 22-year old is out of contract with Schalke at the end of the season, and having refused to extend his stay in Gelsenkirchen, is ready to move to another club, with Barcelona, Juventus and Arsenal all said to be tracking the German international, along with the Merseyside club.
Now Bayern have also publicly admitted their interest in the defensive midfielder, with the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirming, at the club’s winter training camp in Doha that they would like to sign Goretka, who joined Schalke from Bochum in 2013 and has made 130 appearances for the club since, scoring 19 goals. He has also got 12 full caps for Germany and is likely to feature in their squad for this year’s World Cup Finals.
Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic confirmed the Bavarian club’s interest in the 22-year-old.
“Leon Goretzka is a great player, that’s clear,” said Salihamidzic. “He is a Schalke player and we obviously respect that.
“But he is a Germany international and we can say that we are interested in him.”
