Chelsea ready to offload David Luis in January

Chelsea are ready to let defender David Luis leave in January, either on loan or in a permanent deal, with Real Madrid his most likely destination.

Luis has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge following his decision to question manager Antonio Conte’s tactics following their Champions League defeat away to Roma in November. He has also suffered from a spate of injuries, whilst his path to first-team football has been blocked by Andreas Christensen, who has come up through the ranks at Chelsea.

Now it looks like Luis may be allowed to leave a club he joined for the second time in August 2016 for £34 million from PSG.

Real have long been admirers of the Brazilian defender, who has 56 international caps to his name and who will want to be playing regular football to cement his place in his national squad for next summer’s World Cup.

If the move is likely to be a permanent one, a fee of around £25 million is expected to be asked for a player who was a key part of Chelsea’s title-winning team last season.
