Bookmakers have made Arsenal the surprise favourites to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero in the January transfer window.
The 30-year old Argentine finds himself behind David de Gea at Old Trafford, and the excellent form of the Spanish international has restricted Romero to just 4 appearances this season.
Now, concerned that his lack of playing time could harm his prospects of being Argentina’s number one in the World Cup next summer, Romero is looking for a move away from Manchester, with North London seen as his most likely destination.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger may be set to lose second-choice keeper David Ospina back to his native Columbia in January, whilst there is a need to find a long-term replacement for Peter Cech who is now 35.
Romero joined United from Sampdoria in 2015, but has made only 32 appearances for the club since, mainly featuring in cup and European competitions.
