Luke Shaw has apparently demanded that Manchester United pay him £5 million to cover any shortfall in his wages if he is forced to move away from the club in January.
The 22-year old left back has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with manager Jose Mourinho making it clear that he does not figure in his long-term plans, and, although he got a rare start against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League, the player was only on the bench for the Manchester derby at the weekend.
Whilst Newcastle United are said to be favourites to sign Shaw, Tottenham Hotspur could also be in the hunt, with Danny Rose being heavily linked with a move to United in January.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino knows Shaw well, as he managed him during his time at Southampton and is known to admire his strong, aggressive style and hard-working forward intent.
