Chelsea given boost as Juventus left-back wants to leave

Chelsea have been given a boost with the news that Juventus left-back Alex Sandro wants to leave the Italian club.

The Brazilian international was one of manager Antonio Conte’s top transfer targets in the summer, but Chelsea’s hopes of capturing the player were thwarted at the time by the refusal of Juventus to lower their £80 million asking price.

Now, however, amidst reports that Sandro has fallen out with key members of staff at the Serie A club, he wants a move away from Turin, which may force the Italian club to drop his transfer fee to £50 million in the January window.

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their options in defence, with Marcos Alonso, the only senior left-back at the club, forced to play virtually every game. However, if Sandro is available, the Blues may face competition for the player, as both PSG and Manchester City have both previously expressed interest in signing him.
