Spurs are set to miss out on one of their key transfer targets after news emerged that defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kongdobia is set to sign a permanent contract with Valencia.
Tottenham have been closely monitoring the 24-year old French international for some time as they seek a replacement for the injury-prone Moussa Dembele, and believed Kongdobia to be an ideal candidate because of his ability to win the ball and drive forward from midfielder.
Kongdobia is currently on loan at Valencia from his parent club Inter Milan, and has put in a string of impressive performances this season which have helped propel the Spanish club to second place in La Liga. One of the terms of his loan is an option to make the move into a permanent deal, and now it appears that is about to happen, with Inter and Valencia in advanced talks, and the player set to sign a 4-year contract to remain in Spain.
