Algerian international Faouzi Ghoulam, who has been linked with a host of top Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, has signed a new contract with his current club Napoli.
Liverpool wanted the player to fill their troublesome left-back position, and reportedly made an approach for the player in October which was turned down by Napoli.
For their part City were interested in getting cover for the injured Benjamin Mendy, whilst Chelsea’s Antonio Conte was also said to be an admirer of the 26-year old.
However, the player, who is currently sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, has now decided to commit his immediate future to Italy, signing a new contract which will keep him at Napoli until 2022.
Ghoulam, who represented France at under-21 level before switching allegiance to Algeria, has 35 international caps to his name and has made 151 appearances for Napoli since signing from French side Saint-Etienne in 2014.
