Reports emerged over the weekend that Manchester United were in the process of finalising a deal to sign Benfica youngster, Umaro Embalo.
However, now it appears that Bundesliga side RB Leipzig may be about to pre-empt them with a substantially higher bid for the 16-year old.
Embalo has caught the eye with a string of impressive performances at youth level for Benfica this summer, scoring 5 goals in 12 appearances, and has also performed well at international level for the Portuguese under-17 side.
Allegedly, United had agreed a fee of £5 million with Benfica for the youngster, and all had been agreed between the two clubs before Leipzig entered the picture, with a bid of £11.6 million, more than double that offered by the Old Trafford outfit.
Benfica and the player may find it hard to turn down such an offer which represents a huge gamble for the German side, given that Embalo has yet to make an appearance at senior level.
