Arsenal ready to bid again for Thomas Lemar

arsenal news

Arsenal are prepared to bid again for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar in the January window – but at a fee well below what they were ready to pay for him. In August, when his transfer was inflated because of the last minute nature of the bid.

Lemar almost joined Arsenal in a £90 million deal which was based, in part, on their ability to get a large transfer fee from Manchester City for their Chilean star Alexis Sanchez. Both deals eventually collapsed, and Lemar’s form has since dipped, with Monaco now out of the Champions League and unable even to qualify for the Europa League.

Sanchez meanwhile continues to be linked with news now emerging that PSG are preparing a pre-contract agreement for the player which would see him move to Paris at the end of the current season.  Manchester City are still reported to be interested in signing him as well, but, upset by the way that Arsenal handled negotiations with the player over the summer, prefer to wait and see if he is available when his current deal expires, rather than renegotiate with The Gunners in the next window.

Sanchez scored the last minute winner for Arsenal from the penalty spot as the Gunners beat Burnley on Sunday.
