According to The Sun and a number of other news outlets, Arsenal are in advanced talks to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir for a club record fee in excess of £60 million in January.
That, in turn, would cushion the blow for Arsenal fans of losing both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, who are out of contract at The Emirates next summer, and are giving no indications they are willing to commit to new deals.
French international Fekir, who can play either as a striker or in the hole, has been in great form for Lyon so far this season, scoring 11 goals in 11 appearances, although he recently sparked controversy and a pitch invasion when he held up his shirt to the home fans as his club thrashed local rivals St. Etienne 5-0 on the road.
If 24-year old Fekir were to join Arsenal, he would not only link-up with former teammate Alexander Lacazette, but would also eclipse the previous transfer record of £46.5 million which the North London club paid for the striker in June.
