Premier League clubs on alert as PSG look to offload stars

Premier League clubs have been put on alert with the news that PSG are set to offload two of their big stars, Angel di Maria and Lucas Moura in January.

The French club are desperate to lower their wage bill, and have been told by UEFA auditors that they need to raise £70 million to comply with the requirements of Financial Fair Play, which they intend to raise by the sale of players, and signing new sponsorship and TV deals.

Given the size of any likely transfer deals and their wage demands, it is probable that only clubs in the Premier League could afford the two players.

Argentine forward Di Maria may find it hard to secure a move because of his previous history in England. He signed for Manchester United in what was a record-breaking deal for the time in 2014, but failed to settle at Old Trafford and was soon sold. However, his Brazilian teammate Moura may be a more attractive proposition, having previously attracted interest from United and Chelsea, and he could well find himself on the way to the Premier League before the January transfer window closes.
