According to Spanish news outlet Don Ballon, Jose Mourinho is willing to sell goalkeeper David de Gea to Real Madrid next summer – provided he gets Raphael Varane as part of any deal in return.
Manchester United goalkeeper de Gea has long been linked with a move back to his native Spain, and almost joined Real in the summer of 2015, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute.
Now it looks like he may get his wish at the end of the season, provided that Varane is included as part of any trade. Mourinho has tried to sign the 24-year old French centre back on several occasions before, and now it looks like he may finally get his man, as he looks to further strengthen the United backline.
Whilst United are still keen to keep the services of De Gea, who has kept 11 clean sheets in 15 appearances already this season, the prospect of receiving a large fee for the player, plus the addition of Varane into the bargain, may prove too difficult to resist. For their part, De Gea remains near the top of Real’s shopping list, with current goalkeeper Keylor Navas yet to convince the hierarchy at the Bernabeu.
