Chelsea are considering a move for young Lyon defender Mouctar Diakhaby, with Manchester City and Juventus also interested in the player.
The 20-year old only broke into the Lyon first-team at the end of last season, but is already gaining a reputation for his composure in defence and his attacking prowess at set-pieces.
The 6 foot 4 inch French under-21 international has made 4 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season, and has also featured in the French club’s Europa League campaign, starring as Lyon beat Everton over both their recent ties.
Chelsea are looking to strengthen their defensive options, with Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato reporting that the West London side are unhappy with the form shown by Antonio Rudiger since his move from Roma in the summer. The German international was heavily criticised last week as Chelsea succumbed to their worst Champions League defeat in 5 years, losing three nil away to Rudiger’s old side, although, to be fair to him , few of his teammates covered themselves with glory on the night.
