Benfica have put a €40 million (£35 million) price tag on left-back Alejandro Grimaldo, amidst reported interest from Liverpool and Juventus.
The 22 year-old Spanish under-21 international only joined the Portuguese club from Barcelona’s B team last year. However, following a string of impressive performances this season, including both fixtures in the Champions League against Manchester United, it looks like Grimaldo could soon be on the move again.
Grimaldo is the latest left-back linked with a move to Liverpool to fill what remains a problem position for them. Current incumbent Alberto Moreno still struggles to convince, summer signing Andy Robertson does not appear to figure in manager Jurgen Klopp’s plans at all, and James Milner having to make do with the occasional appearance from the bench.
The Anfield team may have to fend off competition from Italy though if they want to land Grimaldo, with Juventus also reported to be heavily interested in the player.
