Arsenal are said to be considering a surprise move in the January window for young Chelsea winger Charly Musonda.
The Belgium under-21 international has been at Stamford Bridge since the age of 15, and has long been considered a future star. However, he is said to be very frustrated by his lack of playing time, with only two starts in the Carabao Cup to his name, and now believes that a move away from the club may be in the best interests of his long-term career.
Musonda turned down a loan move in the summer, choosing to try and force his way into first-team contention instead. However, those plans have gone awry, and he finds himself down the pecking order in West London.
Now it is reported that Arsenal are ready to make a firm offer for the player in January. With the player out of contract in 18 months’ time, and with no immediate prospect of him becoming a first-team regular, Chelsea may decide to cash-in and get a fee for the player, rather than let him languish in the reserves.
