It is reported that Arsenal and Chelsea are both closely monitoring the progress of former Liverpool goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi, now playing with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
The Daily Mail reports that scouts from both clubs were in Munich on Saturday night to watch Leipzig’s two goal defeat to Bayern, with a number of other teams from the Premier League also tracking him.
The 27-year old Hungarian knows England well, having spent 5 years at Liverpool, although he failed to make a single senior appearance during his time at Anfield. However, he has since developed into one of the finest goalkeepers in Germany, as well as featuring regularly for his country at international level.
Arsenal are beginning the hunt for a long-term replacement for Petr Cech who is now thirty-five and has 18 months left on his current deal, whilst Chelsea fear they may lose Thiebaut Courtois back to Atletico Madrid because, so far, he has refused to commit his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
