Leicester forward Riyad Mahrez may be set for a January move to Marseille, following news that the French club are set to make a £26.5 million bid for the player when the transfer window opens.
That will disappoint Arsenal who have long been an admirer of the player and have been linked with a move for him on several occasions. However, with continued uncertainty over the short-term futures of both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, no offer for the Algerian is likely to be made in January, and now it appears they may miss out on his signature altogether.
The 2016 PFA Players’ Player of the Year almost joined Roma in the summer, but the deal fell through when the Italian club failed to meet Leicester’s £32 million valuation of the player. Now it appears that he could be set for a return to France, 4 years after he left Le Havre for the Midlands in a £400,000 deal.
