Brazilian full-back Zeca is set to take his current club, Santos, to court over allegations that he is owed money and has been threatened by fans.
The under-21 international was tracked by Liverpool until a year ago, but work permit concerns forced them to drop their interest. However, Zeca has since acquired an Italian passport, which makes him eligible for a move to Europe.
Zeca, who helped Brazil win gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, has alienated fans by criticising them on Instagram, and is unhappy with the level of security offered to him by Santos.
With the Brazilian club indicating they might be willing to let him go to avoid the court case, which may prompt Liverpool to renew their interest in the player, with left-back a problem position for them. Last season, James Milner played their out of position, and, although current incumbent Alberto Moreno, is a natural left-sided defender, there are continued concerns about his defensive capabilities, whilst summer signing Andy Robertson appears to be permanently out of favour with manager Jurgen Klopp.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
