It is reported that Jose Mourinho has been offered a huge new contract which will tie him to Manchester United for the next 5 years. When appointed in May 2016, the Portuguese manager signed an initial three-year deal, but the hierarchy at Old Trafford are said to be so happy with his performance, that they want to tear that up and replace it with a new 5-year contract worth £65 million.
Alongside Pep Guardiola, Mourinho is already the best paid manager in the world, with both men reputed to earn £250,000 a week.
His new deal apparently does not increase his basic wage. However, Mourinho who has already won a Europa League, an EFL Cup and a Community Shield with the Manchester club, will see his bonus and other incentives for winning trophies substantially increased.
Mourinho is said to be happy with the terms and will sign his new contract shortly, which means his stay at United is now scheduled to last longer than his tenure at any of his previous clubs – including Chelsea, Porto and Real Madrid.
