The Daily Star reports that Tottenham full-back Danny Rose could be a target for Manchester United in the January transfer window.
The Spurs and England player has not played since January because of a knee injury, and it is unclear when he will return to fitness, with manager Mauricio Pochettino saying last month “we cannot give a date (for him) to return to the group and start training”.
And, when he does get back, Rose, who had earned himself a reputation as one of the best attacking left-backs in the country before his injury, could find it tough to force his way back into the Spurs team with Ben Davies performing so well in his absence. For his part, Rose will have one eye on next year’s World Cup and will want to be playing regular first-team football in order to force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Russia.
United, meanwhile, are looking for player in his position to strengthen their defence, with continued doubts over the long-term future of Luke Shaw. Jose Mourinho was rumoured to want Rose over the summer, and although Spurs refused to do business then, may be tempted by a new bid come January.
