Man City likely to beat Man United to England U-21 star signing

Manchester City are likely to beat United in the race to sign new England Under-21 star Jack Harrison who has just been called into the international squad for the first time after impressing in the MLS this season.

The Stoke-born midfielder is a former Manchester United trainee, but left England at age 14 to take up a football scholarship in the USA. The number draft pick last season, Harrison eventually signed for New York City, which is owned by Manchester City, is managed by former City player, Patrick Vieira, whilst Frank Lampard, who Harrison cites as a mentor, has played for both clubs.

Harrison, who counts Andrea Pirlo and David Villa amongst his current team-mates and is known as “Golden Boy” by his New York team-mates was given the good news about his inclusion in the England squad by manager Vieira before Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chicago Fire.

Now New York’s parent club look likely to make a bid for Harrison’s services shortly, helping him fulfil his dream of playing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
