The Daily Mail reports that Juventus have given up their immediate hopes of signing Liverpool midfielder Emre Can. The Italian champions had wanted to sign the former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen player in the summer but, having failed in their pursuit then, now admit that Liverpool are unlikely to let the player go in the January transfer window.
The 23 year-old German is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the current season, and negotiations over a new deal have stalled, but any prospects of Juventus making an early move for him appear to have been dashed, with Club President Beppe Morata admitting “I don’t think Liverpool will sell him in January”.
German international Can, who has won 16 full caps for his country, has played 94 times for Liverpool, and manager Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to hang on to player he regards as an integral element of his midfield.
