Jack Wilshere offered new four-year contract by Arsenal

The Sun is amongst a number of papers who are reporting that Arsenal are set to offer Jack Wilshere a new four-year contract. If so, this represents a considerable turn around by both player and club who looked set to part ways when Wilshere’s current deal expires at the end of this season.

However, impressive performances by Wilshere in the Carabao Cup and away to Bate Borisov in the Europa League have persuaded Arsene Wenger that Wilshere still has a place in his plans, whilst Wilshere apparently has had a change of heart and wants to stay with the club he has been with since he was nine years old.

Wilshere’s talent has never been in doubt, but his inability to stay injury-free for any sustained length of time has blighted his career at both club and international level. He moved on loan to Bournemouth last season but hardly impressed, and his stay on the South Coast was ended prematurely by another injury.

Now it looks like he will be given another chance at The Emirates. Arsenal fans will hope that this time he can realise his potential on the pitch and avoid lengthy spells on the injury table.
