[RELIABLE] Arsenal competing with European rivals for French centre-half

Arsenal transfer news

According to reports in The Sun, Daily Mail and other media channels, Arsenal are competing with Nice, Bordeaux and Red Bull Leipzig for the signature of Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi.

The 19 year-old centre half, who has already made nine appearances for his club this season, is being regarded as one of the hottest talents in French youth football, and has been capped at Under-18 level by his country.

With Per Mertesacker set to retire at the end of the season, Arsenal are keen to find a replacement, and regard Moukoudi as one that fits the bill perfectly – tall, powerful, and comfortable on the ball.

Le Havre are resigned to his loss, and there are rumours that a deal could be done as early as January, with the player then loaned back to the French club for the rest of the season. However, Arsenal cannot expect to get him on the cheap, as there are a number of other clubs monitoring the situation as well.
