In an effort to protect one of their most tantalizing players from possible advances of top European clubs, Manchester City are about to open contract discussions with Kevin de Bruyne, according to the Telegraph.
The 26-year-old Belgium star has cemented his status as one of the most dynamic midfielders in the Premier League, and the Citizens want to make sure he is comfortable and happy in Manchester. The Manchester Blues are offering him a weekly wage of around £200,000 per week.
De Bruyne came to England in the summer of 2015 after a successful year and a half stay at German outfit Wolfsburg. He still has nearly four years remaining in his current contract with City, but the Premier League table toppers are eager to reward one of their finest talents.
If the two sides come to an agreement, the Belgian would go on from making £6 million per year to nearly £12 million.
