Moussa Dembele
The French youngster enjoyed a splendid season in Scottish football as he scored 32 goals and provided nine assists in 48 games for Celtic to help them to a domestic treble of the Premiership, the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup. No wonder than that he is a hot property this summer transfer window.
Premier League champions Chelsea have shown interest in the youngster and so have Borussia Dortmund of the Bundesliga. He has also been linked with a move to AC Milan in Italy but if Chelsea loosen their purse strings, Dembele is likely to be at Stamford Bridge next season.
Renato Sanches
Sanches did a star turn last summer at the European Championship and it seemed a coup that Bayern Munich had scooped him earlier than most clubs got a good look at his prodigious talent. But his inaugural season in the Bundesliga didn’t go according to plan as he was reduced to just 17 appearances in the league and most of them coming off the bench.
Manchester United appear interested in taking advantage of Sanches’ situation as they have been linked with the Portuguese for a possible move. Working with compatriot Jose Mourinho will surely be a prospect worth exploring for the youngster.
Kylian Mbappe
The Monaco youngster has been one of the revelations of last season as he helped the principality outfit to an unlikely league title win and played a pivotal part in their Champions League semi-final run. Mbappe’s rising stock has several clubs interesting in signing him and among the leading contenders are Arsenal.
The Gunners’ failure to qualify for the Champions League will hurt their chances in prising away the youngster but the Londoners are probably basing their optimism on manager Arsene Wenger’s charisma.
Marquinhos
Manchester United finished a lowly sixth in the Premier League but the Europa League triumph and with it their passage to the Champions League rescued their season and also put them in a strong position to bring in quality players — not that a lack of Champions League football had hampered them earlier, cue Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba’s signings last summer.
Marquinho, 23, is one of the highly regarded young defenders in Europe and has previously been linked with Barcelona but now that Catalans look settled with the acquisition of Samuel Umtiti last summer, the Brazilian is likely on his way to Old Trafford.
Hector Bellerin
If there is one position Barcelona’s new manager Ernesto Valverde needs to strengthen it is right-back. Sergi Roberto did a commendable job in the unfamiliar position last term but he is not a permanent solution for the Catalans. And Valverde seems to have already figured his target: Hector Bellerin.
Arda Turan has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and a swap deal is mooted but Arsenal will surely be looking for cash as well. The deal makes perfect sense for Barcelona as Turan hasn’t managed to impress and Bellerin looks a great talent. But it remains to be seen if Arsenal too find value in the deal.
These five young players can possibly become the best in their position in years to come and it is quite likely that these Premier League giants would want to wrap up these world class talents at a comparatively cheaper price.
